RNC Chair Steele in Hot Water
It seems like everyone has a book out about the 2008 campaign or the Obama administration these days. This time last week, we were still talking about RNC Chairman, Michael Steele’s book, “Right Now.” But as of late, all the political buzz has been around Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s “Game Change.” Their book, filled with juicy tidbits from the campaign, is No. 1 on Amazon’s best-seller list. Steele’s book, however, has been bumped further and further down the online bookseller’s list. According to Politico, on Sunday morning, “Right Now” stood at No. 615 on Amazon’s list, but quickly lost that ranking. By Monday, it was at No. 999. On Wednesday, it fell to No. 3,030.
Aside from struggling book sales, the Chairman may not even get a chance to finish out his book tour. Members of the GOP have drafted a resolution demanding that Steele end his publicity tour. The resolution will be presented at an RNC conference in Honolulu later this month and would also ask Steele to donate all proceeds from the book to the RNC and Republican candidates. This comes just two weeks before the RNC's annual winter meeting that could determine the fate of Steele's chairmanship. The Washington Times has the exclusive.
